A non-commissioned officer of great merit and exceptional composure. During the landing at Flushing on November 1, 1944, he consistently remained at the forefront as his troop advanced through the city occupied by the enemy, killing several Germans with his submachine gun and thereby halting the momentum of an enemy counterattack.
