Wounded during a patrol behind enemy lines as part of a commando operation carried out between December 20, 1943, and January 3, 1944, he demonstrated great courage
and a fine spirit of self-sacrifice. Died of his wounds on December 27, 1943, on the island of Sark.
This citation includes the award of the Croix de Guerre with Bronze Star.
